Industry
In 2001, the industrial output reached 130 billion yuan, showing a strong strength in industry. The City has become one of the important production bases of motorcycle industry in the country; textile, chemical fiber, garment, electric machinery, paper-making and paper products rank in the front in Guangdong. Jinling washing machines and "Haojue" motorcycles won the title of products of famous brands, "Vinda" has been designated as well-known trade mark. Besides, "Jinling" ventilators, "Meiya" raised blanket, and "Chunhui" polyester long fiber, etc. are the leading figures in the same trade in the country.

Agriculture
Jiangmen City is an important agricultural production base in Guangdong, with a tilled land area of 0.2138 million hectares, and sea area of 30,000 square kilometers, coastal line of 615 kilometers in length. So there are favorable sea economic conditions for developing the three-highs farming. Three-highs farming, foreign exchange earning farming, and eco-farming have been carried on with great effort. Agriculture has gone on the road of industrialization and modernization. In 2001, the agricultural output reached 13.616 billion yuan.

The tertiary industry 

The development of information service industry is very fast, so the city was designated as a city on trail of information popularity in the country, one of the three big junction stations of long distance call of Guangdong, one of the four big cores of the internet. The Visual Broadband Information Network Center is one of the three big pivot stations of the Province.

The area of Jiangmen is nearly 10,000 square kilometers, 1/4 of that of the Delta, a rich resource of land.

The tourist resource is rich here: there are 10 hot springs like Jinshan Hot Spring, so it is called 'the land of hot springs'. There are natural scenic spots like Guifengshan State Forest Park, Birds' Paradise, primitive forests in Qixingkeng; a group of historical and cultural scenes characteristic of the homeland of overseas Chinese, such as the Old Residence of Liang Qichao, a protected cultural unit at the state level, and the watchtowers of Kaiping, etc. 

A educational system of rational structure and perfect complements has been established with 9 institutions of higher education like Wuyi University and TV University, and 22 institutions of secondary technical schools, secondary normal schools and adult vocational schools.

The City has reached 41% of urbanization, with built-up area of 140 square kilometers. In the process of urbanization, fairly good eco-environment has been preserved, with steady quality of environment. Public green area is 8.87 square meters per capita, with a green coverage of 41.8%
